How to Hook Up a USB Headset Mic to a PS3

Users of multiplayer games on the PlayStation 3 game console can use headsets to communicate with each other (or talk trash to each other). Using Bluetooth technology, users can wirelessly connect standard Bluetooth ear pieces for use as their gaming headset. Alternatively, a wired headset can plug directly into the PS3's USB port. While it may limit mobility, it erases the need for constant charging and may offer better audio clarity.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug the USB headset into an open USB port on the front of the PlayStation 3. Turn on the console.

    • 2

Navigate to the settings menu. Select "Accessory Settings," then "Audio Device Settings."

    • 3

Select the connected USB headset from the "Input Device and Output Device," if not selected automatically.

    • 4

Put the headset on and speak into the microphone. A graphical representation of your voice is displayed on the screen. This should be green. If audio levels are going into the red, adjust the microphone level to equalize the headset. Save the settings and exit the settings menu to finish configuration.
