How to Connect an Eye Toy to the PS3

The PlayStation Eye is a peripheral device for your PS3 game console. It comes with a built-in microphone and looks similar to a webcam. It also functions much like a webcam but it is used in certain interactive games that sense motion and sound. It has a USB interface so connecting the device requires little more than plugging in a cable. Once you have plugged it in, you will need to ensure that it is working properly.

  Remove the PS3 Eye from its packaging and turn the PS3 on. Notice the four USB ports on the front of the PS3 console.

  Plug the end of the USB cable that is attached to the Eye into one of the four ports on your PS3 console.

  Verify that the blue LED indicator light on the front of the unit is flashing. This signals that the camera is ready for use.

  Place the camera on a sturdy surface so that it is in front of you and at eye level. This will ensure that the camera properly reads the images in front of it.
