How Do You Put Stuff Onto Your PS3 From Your Laptop?

The Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3) is a multimedia gaming console that allows you to play and view files such as music, videos and photos in addition to playing your favorite games. You can transfer files from your laptop to your gaming console using a portable external drive. PS3 systems come with a built-in card readers and USB ports that allow you to transfer content with blazing transfer speeds.

      Connect your portable storage device to your laptop. If you are using a memory card such as an SD card, insert it into the card slot on your laptop. If you're using a USB flash drive, plug it into an open USB port.

      Double-click "Computer" to launch Windows Explorer. Locate your portable storage device's icon and double-click it to launch the drive's disk window.

      Drag files such as music and videos from your computer to your drive's disk window. Close the disk window when you finish, and then unplug your drive.

      Connect your SD memory card into the card slot on your PS3. If you're using a flash drive, connect it to one of the four USB ports on your gaming console.

      Turn on your PS3. Your external drive is displayed in the XMB home menu. Select your drive's icon and press the "X" button.

      Select the category. For example, select "Music, Video or "Photo." Press the "Triangle" button.

      Select "Display All," and then press the "X" button. The menu displays a list of the playable and viewable files on your external drive. The menu displays the files in the categories you selected. For example, if you select the "Photos" categories, the XMB menu displays all the photos on your external drive.

      Select the file you want to view and press the "X" button.

      Select the file you want to copy to your gaming console and press the "Triangle" button. Select "Copy" to upload the file to your console.

      Select a different category if you want to view and copy other files such as videos and music.

      Unplug your external drive.
