How to Connect a PS3 to an Advent TV

The PlayStation 3 game console offers up to four audiovisual (A/V) connection options, designed to work with both high-definition and standard-definition televisions. The HDMI connection option provides a maximum video resolution of 1080p, while the standard composite A/V cable supplied with the console supports up to 576i. Users have the option of purchasing S-VIDEO and component cables, designed for the PS3 system, which may improve the picture quality over the standard A/V cable. Connecting your PlayStation 3 game console to your Advent television is just a matter of using the proper A/V cable.

Instructions

  Turn off the television and examine the rear A/V input connections. Several connection options may be available, depending upon your specific Advent television model.

  Determine which television input connections you wish to use for the game console. If available, consider using an available HDMI port or component video inputs for connecting the PS3. If the television only features yellow, red and white A/V input jacks, you must use the standard A/V cable supplied with the console.

  Turn off the PS3 console.

  Connect the optional HDMI cable from the rear of the PS3 to an available "HDMI IN" port on the television. If the television does not feature HDMI connection ports, proceed to Step 5.

  Connect the single rectangular-shaped proprietary composite, component or S-VIDEO connector to the "AV MULTI OUT" port, located at the rear of the console. Connect the remaining color-coded ends of the cable to the television's corresponding "INPUT" jacks.

  Turn on the television and select the appropriate input source used for the game console.

  Turn on the PS3 and follow the video setup prompts to complete the process.
