How to Connect Rock Band to the PS3

"Rock Band" is a music game developed by Harmonix that uses various instrument peripherals as the controller interface. The PlayStation 3 version of "Rock Band" uses wireless technology to send signals from the instruments to the game console. Each instrument communicates with the PlayStation 3 through a separate wireless USB dongle. The dongles as well as the instrument controllers contain buttons that must be pressed in order to sync the console and instruments with one another.

Instructions

  Turn on the PlayStation 3 console. Connect the wireless drum dongle to one of the PlayStation 3 USB ports on the front of the console. Connect the wireless guitar dongle to the other USB port.

  Plug the microphone cable into the USB expansion slot on the side of the wireless guitar dongle.

  Turn on the drum controller by sliding the power switch to the "On" position. The power switch is located on the underside of the drum controller.

  Press the small gray button on the front of the drum controller. Press the black button on the top of the wireless drum dongle to sync the drum controller to the PlayStation 3 console.

  Press the small gray button underneath the LED lights on the guitar controller. Press the gray button on the top of the wireless guitar dongle to sync the guitar controller to the PlayStation 3 console.
