How to Connect PS3 to a Regular TV Using HD Cords

The Sony PlayStation 3 is one of the more popular home video game consoles, with more than 50 million units sold as of March, 2011. The console comes loaded with features such as a Blu-ray, stereoscopic 3-D gaming support, up to 320 GB of hard drive space and access to the PlayStation Network. The system also comes with an HDMI cable for optimal, high-definition viewing. If you do not own a high-definition television, you can purchase an adapter to connect the HDMI cable to your television's audio-video inputs.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase an HDMI-to-three RCA AV adapter from an electronics store. The cable will have an HDMI connector on one end. The other end will split into three audio-video cables. They are usually color-coded red, white and yellow.

    • 2

Connect your PS3's HDMI cable to the corresponding end of the adapter. Connect the other end of the HDMI cable to the PS3.

    • 3

Insert the red, white and yellow cables into the matching slots on the audio-video panel, usually located behind the television. The red and white cables should be inserted in the right and left audio slots. The yellow cable should be inserted in the video slot.

    • 4

Turn on the PS3 and the television. Navigate to the input channel on the television and you should see the PS3 boot-up screen.
