How to Get a Game Out of a Non-Working PS3

If your PlayStation 3 system is not working correctly, it may need to go to the repair shop. The only downside to sending your system in for repairs is you temporarily lose the disc that was in the system at the time of failure. While Sony support will return the disc to you when repairs are complete, you may want to retrieve your disc before sending in the console. Depending on the state your PS3 is in, it might be possible to get the disc.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on your PS3 system. If the power will not come on, you cannot safely remove the disc.

    • 2

Hold the Eject button for several seconds. This usually forces the system to eject whatever disc is currently inside.

    • 3

Flip the power switch on the back of the system on and off several times if holding Eject is not working. Once the system powers on for a few seconds, quickly hit Eject to remove your disc.

    • 4

Unplug all of the cables from your system and turn the power on. In some cases, removing the HDMI or video cables stops the system from incurring errors, allowing you to cleanly eject your disc.

    • 5

Shut off the system and hold the Eject button. Turn the system back on and wait for the green light. When you see the green light, hit Eject a couple of times and you may get your disc back.
