How to Copy Game Files to a PS3 for CFW

The PlayStation 3 is a video game console produced and distributed by Sony Computer Entertainment. It features a Blu-Ray player, wireless Internet and wireless Bluetooth controllers. You can install custom firmware, or CFW, on the PS3 to allow backup games and home-brew applications to run. With a home-brew FTP server application, you can copy backup game files to the PS3 over a home network at a high rate of speed.

Instructions

      Download Blackb0x FTP server.

      Double-click on the downloaded files to extract them.

      Copy the extracted files to the root of the USB thumb drive.

      Insert the USB drive into the PlayStation 3.

      Go to the "Games" section on the PS3 main menu and scroll down to "Install Package File."

      Scroll down to Blackb0x FTP Server and press "X." Allow the application to install.

      Connect the PS3 to the same router as the computer with the Ethernet cord.

      Go to the "Games" menu on the PS3 and scroll down to "Blackb0x FTP Server." Press "X" to open it.

      Read and take note of the IP address displayed on the screen.

      Download and install any FTP program.

      Enter the IP address from Step 9 into the location of the FTP connection.

      Type "FTDP12345" as the username and leave the password blank. Type "21" for the port. Press "Connect." The PS3 files will display.

      Double-click on the "HDD0" folder to open it. Create a new folder called "Games."

      Drag and drop the game files to the "Games" folder and allow them to transfer.
