How to Desync the PS3 Controller

Unlike previous PlayStation models, PlayStation 3 comes with DUALSHOCK wireless controllers. These controllers allow you to play games, videos and music in any part of the room. You must pair -- or sync -- DUALSHOCK controllers with your gaming system in order for them to work. Once synced, your gaming console assigns the controller a number. If you're not using a particular controller, you can desync it in seconds.

     Locate the "Reset" button on the back of your PS3 controller.

     Press and hold the "Reset" button for more than a second with a pointed object such as a pen.

   • 3

     Release the "Reset" button. This desyncs your controller and restores the default settings.
