How to Bridge PS3 Connections Between a TV and a PS3

The Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3) is a seventh-generation video game console that generally connects to televisions through the use of RCA cables (for standard definition) or HDMI cables (for high-definition). If you find that the distance between your PS3 and television is too great for the wires to reach, you can bridge the connection between the two devices with extender cable.

Things You'll Need

  • RCA cables
  • RCA extension adapter
  • HDMI cable (optional)
  • HDMI extender cable (optional)

Instructions

    • 1

Plug the PS3 end of your PS3 RCA cables into the data port on the back of your PS3. If you are using a HDMI cable, plug one end of the cable into the HDMI port on your PS3.

    • 2

Plug the RCA ends of your RCA cable into the RCA extension adapter. Plug one end of your RCA cables into the other end of the RCA extension adapter. If you are using HDMI, connect the other end of your HDMI cable to the female end of your HDMI extender cable.

    • 3

Connect the other end of your RCA cables to the RCA ports on the back of your television. If you are using HDMI, connect the male end of your HDMI extender cable to the HDMI port on your television.

    • 4

Turn your television and PS3 on. Change the channel to either its RCA or HDMI channel, depending on which method you used. You will now be able to see your PS3's signal on your television through the extended cable.
