How to Automatically Pair Blutooth Headsets With PS3

Bluetooth headsets are high quality, wireless headsets supported by the PS3 for voice chat or in games that support voice commands. The official Bluetooth headset for the PS3 has an automatic pair mode that reduces the amount of user input required to pair third party headsets. Automatic mode for the official Bluetooth headset automatically enables the advanced features of the headset, such as on-screen notifications and high quality (HQ) mode. Only one Bluetooth headset can be paired to a single PS3 at a time.

Instructions

  1. Third Party Bluetooth Headsets

      Turn on the PS3. Go to the "Settings" icon the PS3 main menu. Scroll down and select "Accessory Settings." Select "Manage Bluetooth Devices." Select "Yes" when asked to register a new device.

      Select "Register New Device." Press the "Pair" or similarly titled button on the Bluetooth headset and select "Start Scanning" on the PS3. Select the name of the Bluetooth headset when it appears on-screen.

      Enter the passkey for the Bluetooth headset. On most headsets, the passkey is 0000 by default. Select the "OK" button. After entering the passkey, the pair confirmation screen will appear.

      Turn the PS3 on.

      Connect the small, rectangular side of the supplied USB cable to the Bluetooth headset. Connect the opposite side to either USB port on the PS3.

      Wait for the power indicator on the side of the Bluetooth headset to display two solid green lights, which indicates the pairing is complete.
