How to Change PS3 to TV From HDTV

When moving your PlayStation 3 system to a new TV, you might expect the console to automatically alter its output options to match the TV's resolution settings. This, however, is not the case, especially if you change video output cables in the process. If you want to make the switch to a standard composite cable instead of the high-definition HDMI or component cables, you must reset your video settings.

  Turn off the main power switch on the console's rear.

  Disconnect the HDMI or component cable from the PS3's rear.

  Plug the PlayStation 3's composite cable output into the console's "AV MULTI OUT" port on the system's back side.

  Plug the other end of the cable into your TV's composite inputs, color-coded red, yellow and white.

  Turn on your television and change the input to "A/V."

  Turn on the PlayStation 3's main power switch.

  Hold down the "On/Off" button on the PlayStation 3 until the system beeps twice. Release the button. The video settings reset to standard definition and the console powers on.
