How to Connect a PlayStation 3 to U-verse

The PlayStation 3 is a game system that is optimized by unleashing its online gaming capabilities. Connecting a broadband Internet service to the PlayStation Network is the way to achieve this. U-Verse is one such broadband option, allowing high upload and download speeds. The U-Verse system utilizes your existing phone line to get broadband into your home, with the Residential Gateway taking over from there.

Instructions

    • 1

Access the back of the U-Verse Residential Gateway. Locate a free Ethernet port on the back of the device.

    • 2

Plug an Ethernet cable into the free port. Find the "LAN" port on the rear of the PS3.

    • 3

Insert the other end of the Ethernet cable into the "LAN" jack on the PlayStation 3. Turn on the console and your television.

    • 4

Select the icon resembling a toolbox ("Settings") by highlighting it with the control stick and selecting it with the "X" button.

    • 5

Move to the icon representing a globe ("Network Settings"). Select with the "X" button. Choose "Yes" when the console asks if it is acceptable to be disconnected from the Internet.

    • 6

Pick the "Easy" option from the two choices presented. Save and exit as indicated. Allow the PS3 to auto-configure the proper Internet settings. Your console is now connected to the U-Verse Internet service.
