The PS3 Controller L1 & L2 Buttons Are Not Working

PlayStation 3, one of the premier video gaming systems, uses DUALSHOCK wireless controllers. These controllers allow you to play your favorite games, browse the Internet and control your gaming console. To the left and right of your controller are the L1 and L2 buttons. They perform a variety of functions that vary with different games. If these buttons are not working, a few troubleshooting guidelines may restore them to full functionality.

  Press the "PS" button on your PS3 to pair it with your gaming console and assign it a controller number.

  Make sure your controller is fully charged if the L1 and L2 buttons are still not working. The controller itself will not function if the battery is dead. If the battery is indeed dead, connect your controller to your system using the USB cable and leave it until it is fully charged.

  Press and hold the "Reset" button for a few seconds, and then release, using a pointed object such as a pen, if your controller is still not functioning properly. Your controller has been reset.

  Contact Sony support for additional troubleshooting if your controller is still not functioning properly (see Resources). You may need to send it in for repairs or purchase a replacement.
