How to Vacuum Dust on the PS3 Slim

During regular usage, the PS3 Slim accumulates dust. Often, dust within the vents increases the PS3's chance of overheating and causes the fans to run at a higher speed. When fans run more quickly, they make additional noise and often distract a user from the game. The PS3 instruction manual recommends removing dust from the vents with a low-powered vacuum cleaner. To keep the PS3 in tip-top condition, remove dust on a regular basis.

  Turn off the PS3.

  Disconnect the power cable and HDMI cables from the PS3 console to reduce the chance of electrical damage.

  Grasp the dirt compartment of your low-powered vacuum cleaner. Clear the compartment and wipe the dust from the vacuum cleaner's nozzle.

  Turn the PS3 so that the vents face you. Hold the vacuum cleaner so that its nozzle rests just beyond the right side of the vents.

  Vacuum the vents.

  Wipe dust off other areas of the PS3 with a clean, soft cloth.
