How to Counter the Centaur's Spear in God of War 3

"God of War 3" is a third-person hack-and-slash video game released exclusively for the Sony PlayStation 3 console. In this game, you take on the role of Kratos as he seeks revenge against all of the Greek gods. One enemy you must face off against is a centaur who swings a large spear around in an attempt to maim you. You cannot dodge the spear attacks and instead must counter them with parries.

Instructions

- 1
  Play through the game until you come across a centaur. These are normal enemies and not a boss.

  Attack the centaur as normal, pumping the "Square" button until the other enemies around you scatter away. This means the centaur is about to attempt spearing you.
- 3
  Move your left analog stick in the direction that appears onscreen when prompted. For example, the game will either tell you to move the stick in a counterclockwise or clockwise motion, and performing the action successfully counters the spear.
