How to Make Things on Little Big Planet

"Little Big Planet" is a game for the PlayStation 3 that blends elements of traditional platform games with an innovative design aspect. Learning to make things on "Little Big Planet" gives you the option of editing and creating your own levels to play on. Stephen Fry voices some of the game's tutorials, one of which runs you through the process of making things on the game. Go to "Your Moon" and choose an empty level. Choose the upper left icon in your "Popit" to view the tutorial.

Instructions

  1. Changing Existing Objects

    • 1

Press "Square" to bring up the "Popit Menu." You can use this menu to add stickers to the game's levels and to build things. Open up your "Tool Bag" to start making changes.

    • 2

Open up the "Corner Editor" if you wish to change the dimensions of an existing shape. Choose a corner and then press the "Action" button to highlight it. Move the left stick around to change the position of the corner. Press the "Action" button again to set it in place. Press the "Action" button when the cursor isn't hovering over a corner to add a new corner. Create any sort of shape you wish.

    • 3

Use the "Fire Tool" or "Electric Tool" for some decoration or to make your objects more dangerous. Set some objects on fire to make them dangerous to Sack Boy (two hits is a kill). Alternatively, use fire to decorate the background of a stage. Use the "Electric Tool" if you wish to make one touch of a certain object lethal.

    • 4

Advance to the next window in your "Tool Bag" to go to the "Gadgets" section. Use this section to make objects do things and to attach two items together. For example, a "Motor Bolt" can create movement in a circle.

    Creating New Objects

    • 5

Create a basic body of a vehicle by adding a wooden body to the game screen. Select "Goodies Bag" from the "Popit Menu" and then go to "Materials" to see the possible things you can use to build something from scratch. Choose "Basic Wood" and place a section of it off the ground so that you can add wheels to make a vehicle. Shape the wood frame however you wish.

    • 6

Make wheels from a material such as wood and shape them to be round. Place them slightly in the foreground or the background, in comparison to your frame, so they can be attached to it. Open up your "Tool Bag" and go to "Gadgets." Add a "Motor Bolt" to one of the wheels and a loose, regular bolt to the others.

    • 7

Add a "Three-way Switch" (found in "Gadgets") to the frame of your vehicle, in a position where you can stand, and then drag the green wire to the "Motor Bolt." Set the switch to affect "Direction." Un-pause the game to test your car out. Pull the "Three-way Switch" and it will go in the direction you pulled the switch.
