How to Make Ulitmate Weapons in Final Fantasy 13

"Final Fantasy XIII," for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, includes an almost incomprehensibly deep item creation system. Weapons for each character can be leveled up, strengthening the bonuses granted from that weapon, and upgraded into a better weapon which can then also be leveled up. Each weapon can also undergo a second transformation into the character's ultimate weapon. The bonuses for the third stage weapon depend on which base weapon was used in its creation.

Instructions

  Enter the "Upgrade" menu located at any shop in the game.

  Choose the weapon you wish to upgrade and select an item to merge the weapon with. Every item bestows a certain amount of experience when merged with the weapon.

  Upgrade the experience bonus on the weapon. Items such as Sturdy Bone, Wicked Hide, Torn Leather and others grant a percentage bonus to weapon experience gained through items. The bonus is added after a certain number of items are merged with the weapon. Use a different item on the weapon once the bonus is gained.

  Raise the weapon's experience by merging it with items. The bonus from the previous step is added to all experience from that item.

  Reach the weapon's star level. This is either level 21 or 26 depending on the weapon. The weapon can't gain anymore experience once it reaches its star level.

  Upgrade the weapon using a specific item to reach the weapon's second tier. The weapon to use depends on the weapon. Items needed to reach the second tier include Perovskite, Uraninite, Scarletite, Adamantite, Adamancy, Cobaltite and Dark Matter. Save the game before upgrading. Restart the game and try again if you are unsure which item to use on the specific weapon and the upgrade doesn't work.

  Repeat the experience process for the second tier weapon to bring it to its star level. Weapons which reached star level at level 21 must be leveled to 41 for the third tier while those which needed level 26 to reach its star level must reach level 61.

  Upgrade the star level weapon using the Trapezohedron item. These can be purchased in the item shop for 2 million gil each or earned as rare drops from Adamantoise, Adamantortoise and Long Gui, with Long Gui offering the best odds for a drop.
