Browse to "Settings" and then select "Network Settings."
Select "Media Server Connection" and then press the "X" button.
Highlight "Disable" and then press "X." This turns off the Media Server Connection, which transmits a signal that may interfere with your wireless Internet connection. Attempt to connect to the Internet before troubleshooting any further.
Use a computer to access the administration page of your Wi-Fi router. Open a Web browser and then type the IP address of the router in the address bar. Enter the name and password for your router. If you did not change these settings, they are still on default. Check the documentation for the router for those details.
Click on the "Wireless" tab of the router and ensure that the signal it is broadcasting is set to "Mixed." This allows the router to communicate using all standards of 802.11 Wi-Fi communications.
Reset your PlayStation 3 console. Attempt to browse the Internet when it reboots.
Connect an Ethernet cable from your router or cable modem to the PS3. Attempt to browse the Internet again.
Unplug the power cable from the router and turn off the PlayStation 3. After a moment, turn on both devices. Cycling the power on and off allows the devices to initialize simultaneously, creating a connection. Verify that you can now connect to the Internet.
