How to Install PS3 Games Via Proxy Server

The PlayStation 3 gaming console allows people to download games and videos through the PlayStation Network. Proxy servers are used to bounce your IP address to a different server. This can be used to keep your computer safe from viruses. If you have a proxy server on your network router, you can still connect to the PlayStation Network as long as the proxy is configured properly. In other words, if you can connect to the Internet you can connect to the PlayStation Network. You don't have to be a networking genius to install your games through a proxy. You can do it yourself.

Instructions

    • 1

Log into your router from your browser window. This is typically found at "192.168.1.1." Enter your log-in user name and password to log into the router.

    • 2

Click on the "Proxy" setting and check the IP address of the proxy. Proxy servers can go out of service; these steps will ensure yours is in service.

    • 3

Go to the proxy server's web address to make sure that it is working properly. If the proxy server page does not load, choose a different proxy and enter the IP into the router's proxy address.

    • 4

Click the "Save" button to save your settings. Turn on your PS3.

    • 5

Go to the "Settings" icon on the PS3 home screen.

    • 6

Click on the "Network Settings" button and then click on the "Internet Connection Test" icon.

    • 7

Wait for the test to complete. Once the test tells you that you can connect to the Internet, exit out of the window.

    • 8

Go to the "PlayStation Network" icon on the home screen and click on it.

    • 9

Wait for the PS3 to sign you into the network.

    • 10

Select your game from the menu and wait for the game to install to your PS3.
