How to Rebuild a PS3 Controller

The PlayStation 3 video game console controller comes equipped with many parts. On top of the action buttons pad there is the directional pad, two analog joysticks and four rectangular buttons situated on the top of the computer. If you have happened upon a disassembled PS3 controller and want to use it again, you are going to have to put all this stuff, including the internal mainboard.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay the two halves of the controller in front of you.

    • 2

Insert the directional pad in the cross-shaped hole in the front half of the controller.

    • 3

Fit the action button pad in the space on the opposite side of the front of the controller.

    • 4

Fit the top four rectangular buttons in the ports on the top of the front half of the controller. The "L1" and "L2" buttons go in the ports on the left side (with "L1" being placed in the port closest to the front of the controller) and the "R1" and "R2" buttons go in the ports on the right side.

    • 5

Fit the motherboard into the front half of the controller. The motherboard will be in the shape of the controller so all you should need to do is fit it in. Make sure the side with the square battery cable port is facing up and that the port is on the right side.

    • 6

Use your screwdriver to replace the single screw that holds the motherboard in place. This screw hole is located in the center of the motherboard.

    • 7

Take the rectangular battery pack and plug the wiring that runs from its corner into the battery port on the motherboard. Place the battery over the motherboard.

    • 8

Fit the back half of the controller over the front and replace the five screws on the back of the controller.
