How to Connect a PS3 to a Laptop Webcam

While the primary function of the PlayStation 3 console is for gaming, this multimedia console also has Web browsing, video share, messaging and picture share capabilities. To take photos or video chat with your friends and family over the PS3, you can connect a laptop webcam to the PS3 using the USB connector cable. Within a few minutes, you can chat face to face with your PS3 buddies.

      Insert the USB end of your laptop webcam into the USB slot on the front of your PS3 console.

      Power on your PS3 console and scroll to the far-left side of the XMB menu over the "Settings" icon.

      Scroll down and select the "Accessory Settings" option and choose the "Camera Device Settings" option. You will be able to test the image of the USB camera and reduce the flickering by selecting the power frequency that best suits your television and webcam.
