How to Use Time Capsule As Media Server for Your PS3

Time Capsule is a network storage hard drive that allows people to back up their Apple computers wirelessly. You can store media files like pictures, video, and music on the Time Capsule and stream them to your PS3. The Universal Plug And Play on your PlayStation 3 game console can play the files on your Time Capsule hard drive, because the Time Capsule will be on the same network as the PS3.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect the Time Capsule to your home router.

    • 2

Turn on your PS3 and then go to the "Settings" option from the home screen.

    • 3

Click the "Network Settings" option and then click the "Internet Connection Settings" option.

    • 4

Click the "Custom" icon and then scroll down to the "UPnP" icon. Click the "Enable" icon.

    • 5

Exit out of the window and then go to the media that you want to watch. For instance, if you want to watch a movie, click on the "Video" icon.

    • 6

Click on the media that you want to play to stream from the Time Capsule.
