How to Remove the Motion Sensor on a PS3

The "motion sensor" is actually the external camera you can purchase for use with the PlayStation 3. The camera, known as the PlayStation Eye, is capable of detecting the movement of the specially designed PlayStation Move Motion controller when both are connected to the console. Since the camera is removable, you can disconnect it when not using the motion controllers and instead use regular PS3 controllers.

  Turn off the PlayStation 3 by pressing the "Power" button until the status light turns to red.

  Carefully turn around the unit so that the rear of the PS3 is facing you.

  Grasp the tip of the USB connection that connects the PlayStation Eye Camera to the back of the PS3 system.

  Remove the USB connection to disconnect the PlayStation Eye.

  Connect a wired controller to one of the controller ports on the PS3. Or connect a wireless controller adapter to one of the controller ports, power on the system, and press the center logo button on the wireless controller to activate.
