How to Tell When Your PS3 Is Broken

The Sony PlayStation 3 is the successor to Sony's successful PlayStation 2. The PS3, which has a built-in Blu-ray player, requires a lot of electricity to run.       Plug the PS3's power cable into an electrical socket.

      Turn the PS3's main power switch on if it is the fatter version. The new slim systems do not have a main power switch. The switch is located on the back of the PS3.

      Press the "Power" button on the front of the PS3. Watch the red light on the front of the system. If the light goes out, a yellow light appears for a second and then the red light blinks afterward, the system is broken.
