Connect the PlayStation 3 directly to your router using an Ethernet cord, if possible. Tethering your console directly to the modem creates a solid connection that cannot be broken. Purchase an extra-long cable if the one included with your console is not long enough. Simply connect one end of the cable to your console and the other end to the "LAN" port on your modem to quickly establish a connection.
Place your console at the highest possible shelf in your room and set it vertically on its left side. When set in this position, the wireless receiver faces upward and can better receive the signal.
Remove any obstacles between your modem and your PS3. Solid objects diminish the wireless signal, so the fewer items between the console and router the better.
Make an aluminum signal booster to further increase your signal strength. Cut the top off an aluminum can and drill a hole in the bottom of the can. Cut the can into inch-wide strips across the circumference of the top. Bend these strips outward, then place the router antenna inside the hole. This device works to boost your wireless signal.
