How to Get a Sniper Rifle in the Story on Red Dead Redemption for PS3

Throughout the storyline in "Red Dead Redemption," the characters you encounter will help you build up your armory. You can obtain sniper rifles through missions that require their use. Two sniper rifles appear in "Red Dead Redemption": the carcano and the rolling block rifle. You will receive your first sniper rifle during a mission and the second is available for purchase from a gunsmith. These guns will come in handy for future missions and side quests.

  Complete the De Santa mission "Empty Promises," where you must help De Santa and his troops fight off a group of Rebeldes. Before the battle begins, De Santa provides you with a sniper rifle. After you successfully kill the Mexican rebels and finish the mission, you can keep the gun in your inventory.

  Visit the gunsmith in Blackwater. Set a map marker for the gun icon in the town of Blackwater and follow the marker. Walk inside the doors and approach the merchant. Press "O" to barter with him. Scroll through his inventory and highlight the carcano rifle. Press "X" to purchase it and add it to your inventory.

  Purchase additional ammunition for your sniper rifles from the gunsmiths in Armadillo, Blackwater, Chuparosa, Macfarlane's Ranch, Escalera, Manzanita Post or Thieves' Landing.
