How to Troubleshoot a FrontMan for PS3

The FrontMan is a guitar controller for guitar rhythm games on the Sony PlayStation 3. If an error occurs that prevents the FrontMan from working on your PS3, Nyko, the company that designed the FrontMan, provides some troubleshooting tips on how to repair your FrontMan. These tips do not require taking the FrontMan apart, voiding the warranty as a result.

Instructions

    • 1

Fix the green light that constantly stays on during "Rock Band 2." PS3 firmware version 2.52 causes the green light on the Frontman to stay on constantly. Change the Frontman's toggle switch to "Guitar Hero" mode to fix this.

    • 2

Reassign the FrontMan to controller slot one if the controller was used to navigate the XMB. After the PS3 firmware version 2.80, the controller is reassigned to a different controller slot when it is used on the XMB to open a game. Hold down the "Nyko" button on the FrontMan for a few seconds. Choose "Controller Settings" and reassign the controller to position one.

Link the FrontMan to the wireless receiver if it is not linking. Press the "Link" button on the FrontMan to turn it on. Press the button again and immediately press the wireless receiver's "Link" button to link the FrontMan to the receiver. Press the FrontMan's "Link" button a third time to assign the guitar a controller slot.
