How to Eject a Disc From a PS3 With the Yellow Ring of Death

Sony's PlayStation 3 (PS3) game console has a yellow LED light that illuminates when your PS3 has a major complication. The yellow light, or "The Yellow Light of Death," will cause your PS3 to freeze up completely, thus trapping your disc inside. If you are sending your PS3 to a repair center, you will want to remove your game disc before sending it off to ensure the game is not lost during repair. Pressing the "Eject" button alone while the yellow light is on will not eject your game, but there is a way to remove the game.

     Locate and turn off the main "Power" switch on the back of your PlayStation 3 console.

     Push the "Eject" button on the front of your PlayStation 3 console and hold it down.

     Continue to hold down the "Eject" button and flip the main "Power" switch back on.

     Release the "Eject" button.

     Push and release the "Eject" button multiple times in a row until the disc drive ejects your disc from your PlayStation 3.
