How to Code a PS3 Media Server

With its myriad functions, the Sony PlayStation 3 can play many types of media. Its included Blu-ray player can play video games, Blu-ray discs, DVDs and CDs. The PS3 can also function as a media server, allowing you to stream content over your Internet connection and play movies, music and photos directly on the console itself. Before you can use this function, you must enable it in the system's settings.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on your PS3 and scroll to the "Settings" tab in the Xross Media Bar.

    • 2

Scroll down to "Network Settings" and press "X" to select it.

    • 3

Scroll to "Media Server Connection" and press "X" to access that option. Set it to "Enabled." Your PS3 will now be able to receive media server content over DLNA networks.
