Things You'll Need
Instructions
Turn off your PlayStation 3 and gently lift it from its position if stored in a cabinet. Place it in a well-ventilated area for up to 30 minutes to allow the unit to cool down. Switch the unit back on to see if it is now working.
Remove all the cables from the PlayStation 3 if Step 1 did not work. Take out the AV cable and the power lead from the back of the unit. Remove the power lead's plug from the power outlet in the wall. Check that all leads and their connectors are free from damage and dust. Remove any dust using a can of compressed air available from local hardware stores. Push the cables back into place and boot up your PS3 to see if it is now working.
Attach a narrow hose element to your vacuum cleaner. Run the hose over the ventilation ducts on your PS3 to suck out any gathered dirt or dust. Use the can of air again if needed to shift particularly ingrained or hard-to-reach dirt or dust.
