How to Hook Up a PS3 to D-Link

The PlayStation 3 (PS3) includes a built-in wireless adapter. This means you can easily connect the PS3 to wireless networks within range, without purchasing additional hardware. If you've configured your home network with a D-Link wireless router, you'll need to know the network name (SSID broadcast name), the type of security (WEP, WPA, WPA2) and the network password. It will only take a moment to configure.

Instructions

    • 1

Power on the PS3. Navigate to "Settings," then "Network Settings."

    • 2

Select "Internet Connection Settings." You are warned that you will be temporarily disconnected from the Internet, then click "Yes" to continue.

    • 3

Select "Easy," then "Wireless." Click "Scan." The PS3 will scan for your D-Link wireless network.

    • 4

Select your D-Link wireless network in the list of networks within range.

    • 5

Select the type of security setup on your network, then enter the password.

    • 6

Click "Save Settings," then "Test Connection." The PS3 will attempt to connect to the network to ensure you entered the settings correctly. It will only take a moment. Once tested, a confirmation dialog will appear. You are now successfully connected to the D-Link network.
