How to Fix an R2 Button on the PS3

After extended use of your PlayStation 3, you might notice things begin to wear down. Whether buttons refuse to press down or stick inside, there is a solution. Like any system, broken or missing buttons cause trouble in gameplay, and you restore your console and controllers. If your buttons in the PlayStation 3 controller start to stick or break completely, some items around the house aid in fixing the issue.

Instructions

    • 1

Unscrew the screws from the back of the controller. Use pliers to separate the two front and back pieces carefully.

    • 2

Remove the springs from the R2 button.

    • 3

Bend the staples around the metal bars inside the button in the shape of the old spring.

    • 4

Place the front and back together again gently and begin putting the screws back into the controller. Your buttons should be more rigid than before.
