How to Use HDMI Cables to Connect a PS3 to a TV

Once you connect your PlayStation 3 to your television using a high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) cable, you will have access to the clearest and most detailed picture possible.   Turn off your console. Remove any component cables that may be attached to your console.

  Insert one end of the HDMI cord into the "HDMI Out" port on the back of your PlayStation 3.

  Insert the opposite end of the cable into any HDMI port on your television. Take note of any label on the port, as that will indicate which channel matches up with that connection.

  Turn your television to the appropriate HDMI-compatible channel, as indicated on the port label.

  Hold the front power button on your PlayStation 3 for five seconds until you hear two consecutive beeps. Let go of the button and allow the console to boot up.

  Select "OK" when the screen displays a confirmation screen. This will confirm that you want to use HDMI as your PlayStation 3 display.
