Official Wireless Microphones
The "Singstar: ABBA" game is generally bought alongside a set of microphones. The standard type of microphone which is bought with the game is the Sony Singstar Wireless Microphone. Generally, these microphones come in pairs, one with red bands around the top and bottom and the other with blue bands. These work over wireless technology, so they allow the user to dance and otherwise move around with no risk of tangled wires.
Official Wired Microphones
Generally bought in packs of two, the Sony Singstar Wired Microphones are compatible with both the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 versions of "Singstar: ABBA." The microphones can be connected into a USB converter so that they can be used with both consoles. These include the red and blue bands around the top of microphones to differentiate between the two. The main difference inherent with these microphones is that they are connected to the console via a wire, which increases the risk of people tripping over the microphone wire when the game is being played.
Logitech Vantage
Logitech is one third-party company that makes microphones suitable for use with the PlayStation 2 and 3, and all "Singstar" games, including "Singstar: ABBA." The microphone comes with a USB connector, and has a 15-foot cable. Although this doesn't allow as much maneuverability as a wireless microphone, it is still likely to be sufficient for most users. The main issue with this microphone when compared to the others is that it comes as a single microphone, rather than a pair.
We Sing
Although primarily intended for use with the "We Sing" game for the Nintendo Wii, the We Sing Two Mic Pack can be used with the PlayStation 3 and "Singstar: ABBA." The pack also includes a four USB port hub, which can be used to play "Singstar: ABBA" with more than one friend. As the name of the pack suggests, it comes with two microphones, and these can also be used with the Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii. The main downside of these microphones is the fact that they are wired, but they are compatible with many different games requiring microphones, across platforms.
