How to Stop Being Overencumbered in Fallout 3 on PlayStation 3

"Fallout 3" for the PlayStation 3 tasks you with roaming the post-apocalyptic ruins of Washington, D.C. To survive, you must gather resources from the ruins that dot the capital wasteland. Gathering everything you see is tempting, as you never know when you might find another bit of roasted irradiated iguana or a clean can of Nuka Cola. Not being selective of what you pick up can cause your character to become overencumbered and unable to move. Following several tips and techniques will help you to keep on trucking through the wasteland.

Instructions

    • 1

Drop items from your inventory to reduce the amount of weight encumbering your character. You will need to drop enough items to bring your current weight load underneath your weight limit. Access your inventory in your PIP Boy.

    • 2

Eat any consumables in your inventory that add a positive strength modifier to your character. This will temporarily raise your strength statistic and raise your weight limit, enabling you to carry more items.

    • 3

Sell items frequently to merchants to keep the amount of items in your inventory to a minimum. Keep an eye out for traveling merchants, as using them can save you a long trip back to Megaton.

    • 4

Loot only items with a high value-to-weight ratio. This will not only help ensure that you do not go over your weight limit, but it will also help to make you lots of in-game money.
