How to Beat the Giant Scorpion in God of War III in Chaos Mode

"God of War 3" for the PlayStation 3 is the fifth installment in the "God of War" franchise that follows main protagonist Kratos as he seeks vengeance for a series of tragedies that were, for the most part, brought upon himself. While the main goal of the game is to kill Zeus, Kratos will first have to kill the other gods and a series of larger-than-life enemies, such as the penultimate boss character, the Giant Scorpion.

Instructions

- 1
  Tap "R1" and "L1" rapidly to free Kratos from the Scorpion's claws. It seizes him the moment it appears.
- 2
  Attack its legs on the left side. Going right will get Kratos hit. The "L1" and "O" spin attack is very effective.
- 3
  Attack the scorpion's head when it falls over. Use the "L1" and "O" spin attack again.
- 4
  Press the "O" button when the prompt appears over the Scorpion's head. Kratos will tear one of its teeth out, causing it to retreat.
- 5
  Kill the swarm of small scorpions that attack you when the giant scorpion retreats. They are weak and will die easily from virtually any attack.

  Jump back to avoid the breath attack the giant scorpion will shoot at you when you finish killing the small scorpions.
- 7
  Attack the legs on the right side using the same spin attack. Continue doing so, avoiding the new breath attack, until it falls over again.
- 8
  Attack its head again until you're given prompts to press buttons on the controller. These buttons change every battle.
- 9
  Attack the scorpion's head with heavy attacks after you succeed with the button prompts. After a few heavy attacks, it will die.
