Instructions
Connect the controller to the USB cable and connect the opposite end of this cable to an open USB port on the front of the device if you are unable to turn on the PS3 by holding down the center button. Once it is connected, a red light will light up on the controller. If it doesn't, check the power cable on the back of the PS3 and ensure it is connected to both the PS3 and a working electrical outlet.
Check the video and audio cables on the back of the PS3 if you cannot see images on the TV or hear audio while the PS3 is on. In order for the connection to work properly, you must connect either the AV Multi-Out cable or the HDMI cable to the PS3 and your television. You should not have both connected. If you do, disconnect one -- preferably the AV cables.
Turn off the PS3 if you have disconnected one of the sets of cables and let it sit for five seconds. Turn it back on and let it boot up. The PS3 will automatically switch to the proper resolution for the cables you are using. If you are unable to see video when turning the PS3 back on, make sure the television is turned to the proper input that the console is connected to.
Check the Ethernet cable on the back of the PS3 to ensure it is properly connected to the system and to a router or modem if the internet is not working on the device. If the system is connected properly and the internet is still not functioning, you may have an issue with the router, modem or internet service provider.
