How to Make a PS3 NAT 2

Having a NAT Type 2 connection on your PlayStation 3 means that the security of your PlayStation online account is set to "Open." If your NAT type is set to 1 or 3, you will have difficulty connecting to other friends or an online game. You can easily change your PS3 NAT connection to Type 2 by altering the settings on your network's router.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the "Start" button on your desktop taskbar. Click in the search box on the start menu and type "Command Prompt."

    • 2

Click the "Command Prompt" program to load it. Type "ipconfig" into the text box at the bottom of the Command Prompt program and press "Enter" on your keyboard.

    • 3

Search through the information displayed and make a note of the "default gateway."

    • 4

Open your Internet browser and enter the default gateway into the address bar.

    • 5

Enter the user name and password for your router. Click the "Advanced Settings" tab and select "Enable UPnP." Tick the box next to "Enable UPnP" and click the "Save" button. Reset your router.

    • 6

Turn on your PlayStation 3. Wait for your account to connect to the PlayStation Network. Your NAT will now be set to Type 2.
