How to Make a New PS3 ID

If multiple individuals share a PlayStation 3, they can create unique user accounts to keep certain files separated. When you play games on your console, log into your account to keep your contact list, personal messages and game saves contained within your personal account. Although multiple user accounts keep personal data separated, important software updates, game downloads and media collections remain shared across all user dashboards. This setup is the ideal solution for enabling multiple users to share one console.

     Press the power button to boot up your PlayStation 3.

     Scroll through the "Users" tab on the Xross Media Bar to locate the "Create New User" option. Hit "X" to initiate the process.

     Use your controller to enter a name for your new user account. Names can be up to 16 characters long. Press "Start" to complete the name entry process.

     Log in to your account when you want to access your files and game saves. To log in to your dashboard, scroll through the "Users" tab until you locate your name, and press "X."
