Breaking Free
To begin the process of entering the cheats, you must be at the "Call of Duty: Black Ops" main menu. The "Black Ops" main menu is unlike most video game menus, in that it is interactive beyond simply enabling you to select a game mode. Not shown to the player is that you are strapped to a chair by restraints placed on your wrists. Alternate between pressing "R2" and "L2" on your PlayStation 3 controller; your character can be heard as he attempts to break free of the chair. After a few seconds of pressing the trigger buttons your character breaks free of the wrist restraints and stands up. Upon exiting the chair, you will receive the trophy Don't Ask Me Nicely if this is your first time breaking free.
The Computer
Once you are free of the chair, you are allowed to move around the room you were being held in. At the back of the room is a fully interactive computer. Approach the computer and hold the "Square" button to use it. The computer is using a DOS-based programming language and you must know the right phrases to access the cheats.
Inputting the Cheat Code
To input a cheat code, use the virtual keyboard at the top right corner of the screen after interacting with the computer. To unlock Five, an additional Zombie mode map, type "3ARC UNLOCK" without quotes and press "Enter" on the virtual keyboard; you will receive the message "Cheat Enabled," letting you know the code was entering successfully. To unlock Dead Ops Arcade type "DOA" and press "Enter" on the virtual keyboard: the game immediately begins. You need to enter the cheat codes only once; for future playthroughs, the extra Zombie map and mode can be found under the Zombies menu on the "Black Ops" main menu.
Five
Five is a bonus Zombie mode map featuring four historical characters: John F. Kennedy, Richard Nixon, Robert McNamara and Fidel Castro. Taking place in the Pentagon, the scenario requires you to survive infinite waves of zombies in an attempt to get a high score. Five can be unlocked without cheating; defeat the "Black Ops" single player campaign on any difficulty to unlock Five after the credits have finished.
Dead Ops Arcade
Dead Ops Arcade is a top-down shooter reminiscent of classic arcade games such as "Smash T.V." and "Robotron." Players use various power-ups to defeat zombies on 40 different levels, culminating in a boss fight against a zombie space gorilla. Dead Ops Arcade can only be unlocked via the DOA cheat code and is not accessible by any other method.
