Things You'll Need
Instructions
Add a Digital Video Recorder to your media center. This device connects to your PlayStation 3 and TV and records your gameplay. The Hauppauge 1445 HD-PVR, AVerTV USB HD DVR and Ezcap116 are examples of DVRs that record footage from your video game console.
Connect a microphone or gaming headset to a nearby computer. If your commentary partner is in the same room, make sure he uses a different machine, as you may run into trouble trying to use two microphones on the same computer.
Download and install a sound recorder such as Audacity or Free Sound Recorder to your computer(s).
Record your commentary while playing and recording the game.
Connect your DVR to your computer and transfer all recorded files.
Obtain video editing software such as Adobe Premiere, Sony Vegas or Windows Movie Maker. Of these, only Windows Movie Maker is completely free, while Adobe Premiere and Sony Vegas are available for a short-term free trial.
Import your gameplay footage and commentary tracks to your video editing software. Additionally, you may import images, movie clips or other media to spice up your final product.
Adjust the audio tracks until they correctly line up with each other and the gameplay.
Export your file to a popular and portable file type such as MP4. For optimal quality on popular video sharing sites such as YouTube, try to render in a common widescreen HD format such as 720p or 1080p.
