How to Install Homebrew on the PS3 3.55

Sony PlayStation 3 gamers can install "homebrew" software to play user-generated content and access third-party applications on the popular gaming console. If you have custom firmware installed on your PS3, including 3.55 firmware, you can download homebrew applications on your PC and use a USB flash drive to transfer them to the gaming console. After installing the applications, you can access them in the XMB (XrossMediaBar) menu.

Instructions

      Open the Web browser on your PC. Download your preferred homebrew application and save it to your desktop.

      Plug a flash drive into an open USB port on your PC.

      Go to ̶0;Start̶1; and select ̶0;Computer.̶1; Click and drag the homebrew application file to the flash drive icon in the ̶0;Devices with Removable Storage̶1; pane. In many cases, the file will have a .pkg extension.

      Eject the flash drive from the PC and plug it into your PS3 console.

      Navigate to ̶0;Game̶1; on the XMB menu and select the ̶0;Install Package Files̶1; option. Select the homebrew file and press the ̶0;X̶1; button on your controller to install the application.
