Distance From the Screen
Calibration works best if you have a clear shot from at least eight feet away from the television. This may pose a problem if you have only a small gaming room or furniture blocking your view of the screen. Standing closer to the screen may help alleviate this problem, but you must remember the position in which you calibrated the Top Shot Elite or recalibrate it prior to play each session.
Sensor Bar Placement
The Top Shot Elite sends a signal from the gun directly to a bar placed along the front or top of your television. This signal must remain unobstructed; any items that block or distort the signal will prevent calibration. Make sure you clear the area between your preferred playing spot and the sensor bar. Place the bar at the top of the television if items near the base may interfere with reception.
Weak Signal
The shooting accessory requires two AA batteries for both the gun and sensor bar. The manufacturer packages a set of four batteries with every new ̶0;Cabela̵7;s Dangerous Hunts 2011̶1; game, but these may drain quickly during regular play. You can work to alleviate this problem by replacing the packaged alkaline batteries with rechargeable ones and recharging the batteries after each play session. Weak batteries typically result in a weak signal that may cause spotty aiming results.
Other Potential Problems
Interference from other wireless tools, including other game controllers or nearby wireless gaming consoles, may cause problems during calibration. Power down all nearby wireless communications devices to help prevent this conflict. Some devices, such as vacuum cleaners, may also cause similar interference and erratic behavior from the Top Shot Elite. Exceptionally bright areas may interfere with the infrared reception required by the sensor bar, as well.
