The Setup
Connect the crossover cable to your PS3 and your computer.
Open your "Start" menu and click "Control Panel."
Open the "Network and Sharing Center." If you don't see it, open "Network and Internet" first.
Click "Change adapter settings."
Right click the "Local Area Connection" and select "Properties."
Double click "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" and then click "Use the following IP address."
Type "10.1.1.1" for the IP address.
Type "255.255.255.0" for the subnet mask.
Type "10.1.1.1" for the default gateway.
Type "10.1.1.0" for the primary DNS server and "10.1.1.10" for the alternate DNS server.
Uncheck "Validate settings upon exit" and click "OK" to save your settings. Click "OK" again to leave the "Properties" window.
Start your PS3 and go to the "Settings" tab.
Select "Network Settings" followed by "Internet Connection Settings."
Click "OK" at the prompt and then select "Custom."
Select "Wired Connection."
Select "Auto-Detect."
Select "Manual."
Select "10.1.1.2" as the IP address.
Select "255.255.255.0" for the subnet mask.
Select "10.1.1.0" as the default router.
Select "10.1.1.0" for the primary DNS and "10.1.1.10" for the secondary DNS. Continue by pressing "X."
Select "Automatic."
Select "Do not use."
Select "Enable" and press "X" to save your settings.
Start the FTP server. It should tell you your IP address is "10.1.1.2."While the FTP servers vary, starting the server should be no different than starting a game; simply highlight it and press "X."
Connecting to your PS3
Open an FTP client on your PC.
Type in "10.1.1.2" as the IP address you want to connect to. Make sure to use port 21.
Connect to the IP address. It should successfully interface with your PS3. You should be able to transfer files.
