Hardware Needed for 3-D Gameplay
A display with 3-D capability is required for 3-D gameplay on the PS3. While the PS3 has 3-D support, it will not be usable until connected to a 3-D high-definition TV. Special 3-D glasses are needed for 3-D displays. There are several options to choose from, including active-shutter 3-D glasses and passive 3-D glasses similar to the ones used in movie theaters. Your PS3 must be connected to your 3-D HDTV through the use of a high-definition multimedia interface cable. Other cable connections, including component and composite video, will not transmit 3-D signals correctly.
Automatic 3-D support.
The PlayStation 3 console can turn 3-D support off and on when connected to a 3-D capable TV. When connected to a 2-D TV, your PS3 console will automatically default to its 2-D settings. Games that have 3-D support, such as "EyePet," will default to your console's display settings. When your PS3 is connected to a 3-D TV, you will see a message that asks "Can you see this screen?" Select the "Yes" option and use the "Up" and "Down" buttons to select the diagonal size of your display.
Manually Adjusting 3-D Support
The display settings of your console can be adjusted manually by navigating to the Display Settings menu from the Settings option on the Xross Media Bar. Select the "Display Settings" menu and choose the "HDMI" connection. The next prompt will ask if you want to automatically search for a 3-D display; select "Yes" and click "OK" when asked if you can see the message on your screen. Save your settings and restart the console.
Playing in 2-D
If you do not have a 3-D̵1;enabled HDTV, you may use your PS3 to play "EyePet" in 2-D by inserting the game disc into the console as you would with any other PS3 game. You may receive a message prompting you that "EyePet" must install system files on your PS3 to function correctly. Press "OK" to install these files and launch "EyePet" in 3-D.
