Updating Your PS3
Download the latest firmware update from the official PlayStation 3 website. Save the file to your computer as "PS3UPDAT.PUP."
Insert a USB thumb drive into your computer and copy this file onto the thumb drive. Remove the thumb drive from your computer and put it in your PS3.
Select the "Settings" tab on the PS3 dashboard after turning it on. Choose the "System Update" option and choose "Update via Storage Media."
Watch for a notification to pop up, telling you the system found the newest and update, which is the file you downloaded. Select "OK" and accept the terms and conditions.
Wait for the update to begin automatically. When it is finished, the PS3 will beep four times and shut down.
Packaging Game Files
Turn the PS3 back on. It is now updated and ready for you to create a game file package. Select the "Game" option on the dashboard and "Install Package Files."
Use your PS3 controller to sort through the games by genre or title on the menu that will be displayed. Make selections with the controller to create a package.
Use your controller to create a file name after making your selections. The PS3 will prompt you to do this. Press "Save" when finished.
