PS3 Themes With Sound Effects

Sony's PlayStation 3 game console lets users customize the look and feel of their system's XrossMediaBar by installing themes. Sony has released a slew of official themes for the console on the PlayStation Store, and a number of websites offer user-generated themes for download. These themes change the icons and backgrounds that appear in the XMB, but some also go a step further by adding custom sound effects to the system's menus.

Premium Themes
- Normal themes that are installed on the PlayStation 3 console only change the XMB's icons and background. In October of 2008, however, Sony added premium themes to the PlayStation Store. These themes add animated backgrounds, animated icons and sound effects to the XrossMediaBar. Since their introduction, Sony has added hundreds of premium themes to the PlayStation Store and hundreds more have been created by PS3 users.
Downloading From the PlayStation Store
- To download a premium theme from the PlayStation Store, turn on the PlayStation 3 system and select the PlayStation Store icon from the XMB. Scroll down to the "Themes & Avatars" options and press the "X" button. Highlight the "Premium Themes PS3" option and press the "X" button. Select the category that you want to browse, followed by the theme with sound effects that you want to download. Select the "Buy Now" option and confirm the purchase to download the premium theme.
Downloading From Websites
- If you cannot find a premium theme with sound effects that you like on the PlayStation Store, you can download one from a website. PS3-themes.com, AllPS3themes.com and PS3vault.com are a few of the websites that offer PS3 themes for download. Once you find the theme that you want to download, click the download link to download its install file. Place this file in a folder named "THEME" on a flash drive and insert the flash drive into one the PS3 system's USB slots to transfer the install file to the system.
Applying Premium Themes
- Once you have downloaded the premium theme with sound effects from the PlayStation Store or a theme website, you must apply the theme. Scroll over the "Settings" section of the XMB and select the "Themes" option. Select the "Install" option and locate the premium theme installation file you downloaded. Select the file to begin the installation process. Once the installation process is finished, return to the "Themes" option and highlight the installed theme. Press the "X" button and select the "Apply" button to apply the premium theme to the console.
