How to Deactivate a Crashed PS3

The Sony PlayStation 3 is a multi-purpose video game console with many advanced features. PlayStation has had many varying hardware revisions of the console, but every version utilizes the same operating system and menu interface. To connect to the PlayStation Network, a console must first be activated from within the PlayStation 3 settings menu. When a PlayStation 3 console crashes or malfunctions, rendering the device inoperable, it is impossible to deactivate the console in the same way that it was first activated. The Sony Qriocity website allows PlayStation Network members to deactivate consoles remotely.

     Browse to the https://account.qriocity.com website from a computer.

     Log in using your PlayStation Network ID credentials.

     Click the "Account" button at the top of the page.

     Click on "Media and Devices" in the list of options.

     Click the "Game" button to display the list of activated consoles.

   • 6

     Click the "Deactivate All" button to remove all PlayStation 3 consoles linked to your PlayStation Network account.
