Insert the USB flash drive into one of the USB slots on the computer. Click the "Start" button in the computer's task bar and select the "Computer" option. Double-click the flash drive's removable storage device icon to view its root folder.
Right-click inside the flash drive's root folder and select the "New Folder" option. Name the folder "PS3" and double-click the new folder to view its contents.
Right-click inside the folder you created in Step 2 and select the "New Folder" option. Name the folder "UPDATE" and double-click the new folder to view its contents.
Drag the Kmeaw custome firmware file titled "PS3UPDAT.PUP" into the "UPDATE" folder you created in Step 3.
Right-click on the flash drive's removable storage device icon and select the "Eject" button. Remove the flash drive from the computer.
Turn on the PS3 system and plug the flash drive into one of the USB slots on the front of the device.
Scroll over to the "Settings" section of the XrossMediaBar and select the "System Update" option.
Select the "Update via Storage Media" option and select the update file you placed on the flash drive in Step 4.
Follow the onscreen instructions to install the update file. Once the installation is finished, the PlayStation 3 system will be running the Kmeaw custom firmware.
